The Freundeskreis der Sammlungen im Sommerpalais zu Greiz e.V (friends of the collection of the Sommerpalais in Greiz) was founded in August 1997. Among the founder members are the honorary citizens of Greiz Dr. Reiner Kunze and Dr. Ulf Merbold as well as some members of the House of Reuss.

The members promote the Staatliche Bücher- und Kupferstichsammlung. Furthermore, the association is dedicated to extending the collections, preservation, research and documentation of the existing stock. The latter shall be presented to the public in temporary exhibitions.

The collection’s wide range shows how important the association’s aims are. Nevertheless, the support of the museum is primarily in a non-material manner as well as financially. The association hopes to collect money from donations to enable the realization of projects.

Everyone interested in the collections and ready to pay a fee of 15 € per year can become a member of the association. Applications can be addressed to the president of the association, Mr Gerd Grüner to Postfach 1146, 07961 Greiz, or to freunde-sommerpalais@gmx.de.
